The fourth round of the Korfbal League 2 once again brought spectacle. DSC booked a huge victory over Fiks, TOP (S) had no problems with Oost-Arnhem and Groen-Geel was clearly too strong for TOP (A). AWDTV was the first team this season to beat Mid-Fryslân, while Dalto remains undefeated leader with a hard-fought victory.
DSC – Fix (35-20)
After a lightning start, DSC was dominant from the start. The home team kept the pressure high in defense and often let Fiks run aground in one-shot attacks. The Eindhoven team was sharp in attack, with many chances and repeated attacks. Despite a brief revival by Fiks just before half-time (19-9), DSC remained the master in the second half. Fiks could not keep up defensively, and the match ended with a big win for DSC. Unfortunately, Jesse Trap was injured for Fiks. A welcome boost for DSC after a difficult start to the season.
DeetosSnel/QLS – Dalto/Klaverblad Insurance (20-22)
Dalto remains undefeated after a hard-fought victory over DeetosSnel. Jesper Oele's team had to dig deep against a stubbornly defending Deetos, who regularly used defensive backs.
Dalto started strong with a solid defensive line and an early score by Bastian. Although Deetos played well through their ladies, Dalto took a small lead thanks to René Siedsma, who scored several times from a distance. Towards the end of the first half, Deetos crept back, which led to a halftime score of 9-12.
After the break, Deetos quickly got back into the game, partly thanks to strong finishing by their ladies. At 13-13, Dalto took the lead again with goals from Fenna, Mathijs and Bastian. In an exciting final phase, Dalto made substitutions to pull the game towards them. In the end, Lotte and Bastian were decisive, who determined the final score at 20-22 with long shots.
AWDTV/IJskouddebeste – Mid-Fryslân/ReduRisk (24-22)
Mid-Fryslân started strong and led for a long time, but AWDTV fought back in a high-intensity match. In the second half, the Amsterdam team took over the initiative, with a crucial lead of three points. Although Mid-Fryslân came even closer, AWDTV held on and the Frisian team suffered its first defeat of the season. AWDTV climbs to third place on the rankings.
East Arnhem – TOP/IAA fresh (9-27)
TOP booked a big win over Oost-Arnhem, who played one of their worst games of the season. Last season TOP lost away to Oost-Arnhem, but this time it was only a game on paper.
Although TOP missed chances in the opening minutes and Oost-Arnhem had some hope with 1-2 after six minutes, TOP quickly got going. Nick Pikaar, Fenna Jagtman (2x), Jill Heijink (2x) and Julia Schuiling put TOP on 1-8 within fifteen minutes. TOP's defense was excellent, with three blocks on shots from Oost-Arnhem. At half-time the score was already 3-15, which effectively decided the match.
TOP kept the pace high and extended their lead. Although there were moments in which the scoring stagnated, actions by players such as Bastiaan Overwater and Jill Heijink were bright spots in an otherwise unexciting match. Ultimately, the duel ended with a convincing 9-27 victory.
GG/RMcD House Emma – TOP (A) (26-13)
Groen-Geel started the match furiously. Anna scored in record time after five seconds, and within three minutes it was 2-0 thanks to a clear free ball. The home team was strong offensively, but Groen-Geel allowed too much defensively. No less than five of the seven goals conceded in the first half came from through balls, penalty throws or free balls. At half-time, Groen-Geel was firmly ahead with 14-7.
The game remained similar. Remarkable moments were a clear free ball by Hidde, a smart goal by Britt after a grab ball under the basket, and the first goal by Fanny this indoor season. Despite nine of the thirteen goals against from fouls, Groen-Geel extended their lead.
