Successful duo Van Vloten and Verberk have one more chance at the indoor title with DVO: departure after seven years of collaboration

Richard van Vloten and Marc Verberk, the successful coaching duo of DVO/Transus, will be saying goodbye to the Bennekom korfball club after the current season. After seven years of intensive collaboration and remarkable results, the coaches have announced their departure. The duo leaves behind a club that transformed under their leadership from a relegation candidate to a permanent title favorite.

From relegation to title candidate

When Van Vloten and Verberk took office in 2018, DVO was in a bad way from a sporting perspective. That year, the club still had to secure its place in the Korfbal League through play-downs. Under the leadership of the duo, DVO quickly started to advance. Within two seasons, the team climbed to the middle of the table, and from the 2020-2021 season onwards, they reached the play-offs for the first time in history.

The real breakthrough came in the 2022-2023 season. That year, DVO not only qualified for the play-offs, but also for the indoor final in Ahoy. Although the team lost that final to PKC, the performance was a historic high. The following season, DVO confirmed its status as a top club by reaching the indoor final again and even winning the Dutch field title – the first national title in the club's history.

Recognition for Van Vloten and Verberk

DVO's achievements did not go unnoticed. The coaching duo was named best coaches of the Korfbal League in the past three seasons. Their tactical insights and ability to develop players made them beloved by both the club and the fans. However, one prize is still missing from their list of achievements: the indoor title.

In the current 2024-2025 season, that dream seems closer than ever. DVO is at the top of the rankings after four rounds and is considered one of the favorites for the title. It is the last chance for Van Vloten and Verberk to crown their period at DVO with the most prestigious prize in Dutch korfball.

An indelible legacy

The legacy of Van Vloten and Verberk at DVO is impressive. They not only achieved sporting successes, but also introduced a culture of professionalism and ambition. Their departure marks the end of an era, but the foundation they laid offers hope for the future. With a core of talented players and a strong organizational foundation, DVO seems ready to continue to compete for prizes in the years to come.

With a full indoor season to go, the focus is now completely on the national title. If the successful duo succeeds in writing this final chapter, their legacy at DVO will forever be in the books as a golden period in the club's history.
