What can you do at what age?

Why 16?

Under 16 you need permission from a parent for some things on the internet. That is the law. An account from 16 keeps things simple and safe for everyone. After the first season we will look again at whether this is the right limit.

Signing up

• We only ask for your email address, a pseudonym and your year of birth.
• In addition, you tick: "I am 16 years or older."
• Because we only ask for your year of birth, an account is only possible from the year in which you turn 17. Are you turning 16 this year? Then you can create an account from 1 January next year. That way we know for sure that everyone with an account is 16 or older.
• We do not ask for a full date of birth, a phone number or a photo.
• Others only see your pseudonym.

If we notice that someone is younger

• If it turns out that someone with an account is younger than 16, we delete the account, along with the comments and predictions.
• We send an email about it, with what we did, why (this age limit), and how to object if it is not correct.
• If you are now 16, you may create a new account, from 1 January of the year in which you turn 17 (see Signing up).

Children on the site

• Names: we only name youth players if a source, such as a club or a newspaper, has already done so. If we are in doubt, we do not give a name.
• Photos and videos: we do not post photos or videos in which children under 16 are recognisable. Anyone who sends in a video ticks that they are 16 or older (or are sending in the video as a parent), and that nobody under 16 is recognisable in the footage.
• Ages: we never put the age or date of birth of a player on the site.
• Referees: for youth matches we do not store or show the names of referees. Only for top matches are referees named on the site.
• Comments: under pieces about youth, comments are switched off by default.

For parents

• Is there something about your child on the site that should not be there? Or does your child under 16 have an account after all? Email info@korfbalinc.nl, or use "Report an error".
• We remove it as quickly as possible, within 48 hours at the latest.
• You do not have to explain why, if it concerns your own child under 16.

Cookies

When you come to the site, we ask whether we may use a cookie for statistics. Younger than 16? Then choose Decline. This is also stated in the notice, directly above the buttons. Everything keeps working as normal.

Predicting: no prizes

Predicting is free. You can earn points and levels, but not win prizes. If there are ever prizes, extra rules will apply, such as permission from a parent for everyone under 18. We will then adjust this policy first.
